Suradji admitted killing 42 women over a period of 11 years. Their victims were between 11 and 30 years and were strangled to form part of a ritual. Suradji was arrested on May 2, 1997, after the remains of his victims were found near his home on the outskirts of Medan, capital of North Sumatra. He accumulated his victims in a sugar plantation near his home, but their heads were still in their apartment as Suradji had the belief that gave him power.

Image results for Ahmad SuradjiIn their confessions, he told police he had a dream in 1988 in which the ghost of his father ordered him to kill 70 women and swallow their saliva, in order to become a "Dukan" or mystic healer. The sorcerer was revered by the locals, who believed he had psychic powers and frequently sought for medical and spiritual advice. Many women hired to launch spells that would ensure the loyalty of their husbands and boyfriends. Neighbors said that many women sought the help of the sorcerer would believe that the rich, healthier and more sexually attractive to men.

They were also arrested three women (both time were sisters murderer), as accomplices in the killings in which they helped hide the bodies. The largest of the three wives, Tumini, was tried as an accomplice of such crimes while the other two were released.

The trial began on December 11, 1997, with a summary of 363 pages and although Suradji maintained his innocence until the end, was found guilty on April 27, 1998 and sentenced him and his wife to death by firing squad, a shame it was applied on July 10, 2008.
